The Nano Nagle Centre was conceived by the Presentation Sisters as an environmentally responsible development project, providing state of the art conference facilities and living accommodation, within the setting of an existing Organic Farm.
TKB Southgate Associates were commissioned to design and project manage the sustainable conversion and extension of an existing site, to achieve a high quality environment with a low carbon footprint. Particular focus was given to reducing the heat-loss characteristics of the
building, whilst still allowing natural light to flood into the interior space. The conversion work was undertaken using low embodied energy materials and a heating scheme was commissioned using a combination of geo-thermal, solar and renewable wood-chip fuels. The scheme also includes a wetland sewage treatment system.
